The threat of Brexit has prompted a huge surge in applications for EU passports. The number of British citizens applying for German passports has increased by more than 1,500% since the UK voted to leave the EU in June 2016.
Applicants include a vast number of former Jewish German citizens and their descendants, eager to retain their freedom to live, work and travel freely within the EU. In many cases, the main consideration for restoring citizenship, has been to protect these rights for their future generations.
